For information on requirements for traveling to New Zealand please visit www.immigration.govt.nz or talk to your local travel agent.

 

All visitors to New Zealand must have a valid passport for at least three months beyond the intended stay in New Zealand.

 

Citizens of some countries must obtain a Visitor's Visa. Visa information and the visa application form are available on www.immigration.govt.nz.

 

If you require a Visitor's Visa, please allow at least 5-6 weeks for processing.

 

If you are a citizen of a country which has a visa waiver agreement with New Zealand, you do not need to apply for a visa to visit New Zealand but you must:

 

  • Hold a valid ticket from New Zealand to a country where you have the right of entry
  • Have sufficient money to support yourself during your stay in New Zealand
  • Hold a passport valid for 3 months beyond the date you intend leaving New Zealand
  • Remain in New Zealand only for the time granted on your arrival

If your travel itinerary includes a transit stop in Australia you may need an Australian Transit Visa. Details about this and how to apply can be found at www.immi.gov.au. Failure to obtain this visa in advance of your travel may result in you being unable to board your aircraft.

A taxi fare from the airport to the city centre is around $75 one way. You can pre-book your Co-op Taxi on the website www.cooptaxi.co.nz. 

Shared shuttles are available for approximately $35 per person from the airport to the city centre, please visit www.supershuttle.co.nz. 

SkyBus is a frequent bus service from the arrivals hall at the airport to the city centre. A one way ticket is NZ$16 per person. For more information, please visit www.skybus.co.nz.

The APAN46 Meeting will be held in English. 

The currency used is the New Zealand dollar. Banking hours are usually 0900 -1600hrs, Monday to Friday. Automatic Teller Machines are well spread throughout Auckland city. International credit cards are accepted throughout the country banks, most hotels and city stores.

Goods and Services in New Zealand are subject to a 15% tax (GST). This tax is usually included in the price and if not, it is clearly stated. This tax cannot be claimed back by visitors, when leaving the country.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase comprehensive travel insurance to cover the duration of your visit to New Zealand and to protect against cancellation charges, loss or damage to your luggage and personal effects, loss of cash and medical expenses.

New Zealand uses a 240 volt 50 cycle system with 3 pin flat plugs.

New Zealand has a national biosecurity system that is considered one of the most robust in the world. Please refer to www.biosecurity.govt.nz for more information.

No vaccinations are required to enter New Zealand.

New Zealand's climates range significantly in temperature throughout the country. 

 

In August, New Zealand is coming to the end of winter. The average temperature at this time of year in Auckland is 15 degree highs and 11 degree lows. Glorious days out in the city are still to be enjoyed, although evening approaches a little earlier and can get a little cooler. Great season for walking and hiking as it's not so hot.

 

Dress for all sessions at the meeting is smart casual.

Name badges will be given to all delegates on registration. We ask that you wear your badge at all times, including social functions.

Every effort will be made to ensure delegates with special needs are catered for. Should you require any specific assistance, or catering please give details required on your registration form.
